United we stand. Divided they fall.

Setting a good example

He lit up.

The Liberal Leader for Canada, just admitted to lighting up. He Justin Trudeau, made mention that he light up and smoked pot, and for this he is being listed as a ‘poor example’.

He admitted to doing so as a member of parliament. However he did take ownership for it. In an age, when there are individuals, yes even politician that do not take ownership he did. Responsibility, he was honest about smoking, and when he smoked, and ownership. This is what we need in this society. It shows leadership skills, being willing to take ownership, even when you do something that may not be viewed as copacetic, with what the majority are doing.

5 Years After: Portugal’s Drug Decriminalization Policy Shows Positive ResultsStreet drug–related deaths from overdoses drop and the rate of HIV cases crashesBy Brian VastagDRUG PLAN: Portugal decriminalized the use and possession of marijuana, cocaine, heroin and other illicit street drugs in an attempt to cut down on related deaths and infections Image:

ISTOCKPHOTO/TOLGAKOLACK    The Best Science Writing Online 2012    In the face of a growing number of deaths and cases of HIV linked to drug abuse, the Portuguese government in 2001 tried a new tack to get a handle on the problem—it decriminalized the use and possession of heroin, cocaine, marijuana, LSD and other illicit street drugs. The theory: focusing on treatment and prevention instead of jailing users would decrease the number of deaths and infections.Five years later, the number of deaths from street drug overdoses dropped from around 400 to 290 annually, and the number of new HIV cases caused by using dirty needles to inject heroin, cocaine and other illegal substances plummeted from nearly 1,400 in 2000 to about 400 in 2006,  according to a report released recently by the Cato Institute, a Washington, D.C, libertarian think tank.

On the topic of marijuana usage, I am not in favor of it mind you, but as expressed before, I am in full favor of decriminalization. Decriminalization, in study, and research over a long period of time works, it saves the society financially, socially, and it places smoking marijuana into the correct context.
I think in most societies, there are quiet a few individuals that do smoke marijuana, and do use light drugs, meaning none hardcore drugs, and decriminalization of marijuana, and possibly other light drugs, might not be the incorrect things. Save on innocent individuals going to jail. I would love to see the prohibition on such items, placed into the scope of decriminalization.

In the mean time. I believe Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau, did the correct thing, and took ownership for his actions, if smoking marijuana was a ‘poor example,’ while being an MP, then isn’t taking ownership a ‘good example’. I believe in these situations he lived up to his own situations, and I like to think he would have made his father suitable, meaning proud, with his actions. ownership.
